Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah…”

Like all good Georgia Bulldogs fans I was thrilled by the way Coach Mark Richt and the Dawgs turned the season around after the disastrous Tennessee game. I wasn’t terribly upset that we got passed over for a shot at the National Championship. But I must admit my heart sank a bit when I heard that instead of matching up the two hottest teams in college football - Georgia and USC - in the Rose Bowl, the BCS had paired the Dawgs with this year’s Cinderella - Hawaii. My despair didn’t come from fear of the unbeaten Rainbow Warriors - I’m fairly certain that Vanderbilt or Ole Miss could win the WAC. Their high flying offense does not impress me because it works best against schools that get scheduled as early season whipping boys for the big programs.
No, what worries me is that there is no way for Georgia to look good in this game. Everyone - myself included - loves an underdog and Hawaii has taken on that role. If we take the Rainbow Warriors to the woodshed - the most likely scenario - we look like bullies beating up on the poor little WAC school. If it’s a close game then everyone crows that the Dawgs were overrated. And, god forbid, if we lose… well maybe we could find a Sooner fan to tell us what it’s like to lose to a WAC school in a BCS bowl.
ESPN has extensive analysis as do my friends at The Dawgcast - probably better than any I can provide - but I think things are pretty straightforward. Our weakness is, as it has been all year, our secondary. Hawaii’s strength is their passing game- led by Heisman finalist Colt Brennan. To win the game Georgia needs to keep the Warriors offense off the field. The best way to do that is to control the clock. The best way to do that is run the ball. And the best way to do that is to give it to freshman phenom Knowshon Moreno. If the Dawgs can do this, they win easily.
The Georgia Bulldogs and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors kick off the Sugar Bowl tonight at 8:30 pm Eastern (that’s 1:30 am Greenwich - thank you Fox). Z and I aren’t sure if we’re listening tonight. We are still on Canadian time thanks to a late night at last night’s Hogmanay party - but at some point we’ve got to get back to normal. Whether we listen or not we’re hoping the Dawgs take on the role of bully rather than Sooner. We’re thinking it’s going to be a high scoring game, but Georgia just has way too much for the Rainbow Warriors - our prediction Georgia 45, Hawaii 31. Sic ‘em Dawgs!

Surely the Rainbows won’t get 31 points. Not with Jeff in his good luck shirt, me in my good luck bracelet, and you eating Hoppin’ John and collards. We oughta blow ‘em outta the water!
Zach is TOO CUTE in that picture.

We await the final score with interest…How does your trading system work? How long before someone pinches Knowshon Moreno??
And methinks Zach looks somewhat like his daddy in that shot!!
btw…..er…what is the ‘kissing your sister’ reference?

This is shaping up to be a very good game. Except for Florida and Arkansas we are pounding the other conferences.
Go Dawgs. Crush the Rainbows…

Chris,
Congrats to you and Little British Bulldog. Your Dawgs handed out a beatdown to the Fighting Rainbows. Thanks for representing the SEC well. You guys have one of the best teams in the conference. Maybe next year.
Hope you have had a wonderful new year.
